UK price starting at £45k with order book opening in October. I've already texted my mate in Audi to tell him to switch my order, this car appeals to my needs much more than the RS4 does.
Chonkoa, why did you write this to me when Tumbo wrote the same earlier? Again, I havent said that M55d is a god name and I think SQ5 is still a stupid name.
I can't recall exactly whether it was here or another forum but the whole naming of S/RS Q5/7 was discussed but I think their was a problem naming it QS5 which was why SQ5 was chosen. If you actually think about it the naming falls inline with other mainstream models, A5 becomes S5 with the S the beginning digit. Taking what we know the SQ5 will come with I specced a normal Q5 S-Line Plus to this level and the difference in price is only £2500 roughly. Great value in my book to gain all this performance and exclusivity and uniqueness of an S model. P.S. Audi have been talking about performance diesel for what seems a lifetime, I know I've been hinting it for long enough that it was coming, probably the timing was now right with their continued success with TDi in the LeMans series.
Let's start with the best part, this car looks fairly good. That being said, I feel like this S version is mostly a design feature, they took an existing engine (on par with BMW's second best inline 6 Diesel only) and added some styling cues. Press release doesn't mention any other technical modifications, and the massive body roll in Bob's video suggests nothing differently. Engine sounds as awkward as the model name to me. Long story short, this is a pretty cool car but the S badge doesn't seem to be justified IMO. Best regards, south
^ So I take it you aren't that impressed. Should be a good car then. LOL P.S. As for the engine, in the A6 it's down 60hp from the M550d but the figures during reviews suggest it might be a bit closer.
It was only a joke South, you're a BMW man and I'm an Audi man. You feel this car doesn't warrant the S badge but when you look at other S models it's fits in perfectly, this car competes with the x3 35d M/Sport just like the S4 competes with the 335i M/Sport and just as that car is a little quicker than the BMW equivalent so it appears to be true with this one (5.1s vs 6.1s). You also say it rolls, well so does the X3, it's an unfortunate side effect of a higher than usual CoG but from my experience of the Cayennes this doesn't really effect their ability to corner harder than one might expect.
LOL... Honestly I didn't see Tumbo response, I just responded without reading the rest of the thread.
Alright, I need to find my jaw.. It dropped long long way down... Holy smokes. Perfection in any single way. i dont care about any other Audi model at the moment. THIS is it.
^Complete agreement with you Tumbo. The Q5 has always been the best looker in this category but now the SQ5 has took this to another level altogether and they've finally given it the kind of performance the chassis has been crying out for and this is only one half of this because the petrol is yet to be revealed, the baby Porsche will need to some looker to even get close. I know it's too early to discuss such things but one can only imagine what ideas they might have for an RS version.
Really? not in my world though. I rate Ranger Rover Evoque above Q5, even a Volvo XC60 is higher up on my list.
Back to the car (I'm not going to bother with telling how utterly pathetic it is they had to name the color Estoril): definitely my second favorite in the segment after an X3 35d with M pack...
To use your own words here Klier, how utterly pathetic it is to find the only thing to complain about is the name of one colour and it's not even as if BMW keep it to one shade because the last time I looked there is loads of shades. If you can't discuss the car are only remarking on the choice of a colour name then is there really any point in bothering posting at all?????
Quite nice, I like the right/left exhausts, the X3 xDrive35i/35d doesn't have duals. I think the X3 M35i will get duals. Also I think the engine choice is nicer than the 3.0 V6 TFSI. But what will the SQ7 get, now that it is almost sure it is coming ? 4.0 V8 TFSI or 6.0 V12 TDI ?
Relax, Bob, klier said he likes the car so why bother calling him out? (Rhetorical question, no reply needed) Best regards, south
