Why so sad the V8 in the B8 RS's is a great engine. Just hear that thing.
Would you expect a V10 or V6?
I don't think an Audi RS deserves anything less than a 5, 8 or 10 cylinder.
Yeah, but now it seems the RS4, RS5, S6, Rs6, S7, RS7 and S8 will all be using a 4.0 TT V8. I don't get it.
The RS5 is not using a 4.0t,and niether will the RS4.
S4 is still my choice here - It's probably the best car Audi has to offer after the R8.
If the RS4 Avant turn out to be a better performer than the RS5 I'll admire them
My thoughts exactly.
It might well be better because the Avant will probably have a slightly better weight distribution, though it may well end up weighing more.
It is a GREAT engine. Just listen to the noise it makes, how could you not fall in love?
My hopes are for less weight but... that's not gonna happen
Geneva seems so long away.
Haven't been following this one, are we talking a blown 6 or a V8 for the RS4???
^Same 4.2 as the RS5.
Awesome! I am glad they did not "downgrade" it to the turbo V6. What a masterpiece that V8 is.
There's a rumor that the output will be upped to maybe as high as 470hp, frankly I can't comment on whether this is true but if it is does this not mean the RS5 facelift will also receive the increase?
I really hope they drop a manual 'box into this one...
It ain't going to happen Martin, unlike BMW who continue to support manual on their M cars Audi have taken a different approach and have almost exclusively dropped the manual in favour of S-Tronic when possible and automatic when not, all future RS cars will not be manual.
Pity, all of the best Audis have been manuals - RS4, S4 (manual is best in this car imo), R8 (the best ones are manuals).
I haven't heard anything about that. How much more hp can thay squeeze out of that engine?
The sad part is that this car will be out right before a new M3. And then it will be outshined AGAIN. Really, why does it take Audi centuries to develop a RS model?
