I don't like the black part on the rear light and the carbon part on the body, but interior is incredible.

I don't like the CF panels, they feel unaudi like. The big one on sides is really tacky and useless since the car isn't even light. Alu panels looks better on audis.
Here is a shot of the concept for some flash back.

The interior is a mess. I would have hoped more from "automotive interior leader", LOL. I'm sure all the tolerances and noices are best in class but it just looks nervous and "rice" especially with the metallic shift knob. CF panels on the side are BAD.

    Nice and positive car overall.

In what way do you think it is a mess? because I think it is quite beautiful -- the gear shift knob is not great but the rest of the interior looks very nice to me.

George @ Fourtitude says he's got some pics he's going to be uploading later of a manual car they have there that has a shiftgate just like the Gallardo, along w/ some other new pics. He's also talking to the product manager, so those of you that are members a Fourtitude get on and post your questions!!! I'm excited to hear what news he will share.

There's something wrong with the exterior proportions, idon't know exactly what but you have to look to the black R8 that posted marquez, may be cause the rear unlike the oncept is too long ?

    Re: R8 pic thread

The overall proportions and design is a carbon copy of the concepts. Very little difference.

    Re: R8 pic thread

My brains blew off when I saw it first time, just weird propotions in my opinion. Leather, plastic and chrome touches are great, maybe the sway (how do you spell that) too which is in the A-pillar but the CF is too much for this soup, just a bit too much materials. What is that CF handle in drivers side? It's not in the passengers side. Doesn't look really easy to operate those buttons behind it. I maybe to old-school but air fans could be more square-shape. I also have doubts how good they will defrost windowses.

The R8 is one big disappointment for me.
I looked forward to this car but i don't like it one bit.
There are to many thinks i don't like about it.
I think the new TT is 10 times better looking IMHO.

Audi R8 Reveal Ceremony: Esplanade Charles De Gualle, Paris, France

Audi pulled the wraps off of their much-anticipated R8 this evening at a cermoney held at the Esplanade Charles De Gaulle in the heart of Paris’ Quartier La Defense. One of the most closely-guarded reveals in the company’s history, the full production stayed basically unseen save for numerous test mule sightings up until tonight’s big show.

Under a large makeshift production building, Audi hosted journalists from around the world. Onlookers watched as Tom Kristensen first drove the Le Mans-conquering R10 down through the Esplanade, then followed it with two examples of the R8.

In person, the car is simply breathtaking. The nighttime reveal of the car was perfect to set off the car’s front and rear lighting, some of the most dynamic elements of the car’s design.

Pop the rear engien cover, and another work of art greets your eyes. Audi's 4.2-liter V8 never looked so good, nestled in carbon fiber and capped off with one of the best-looking engine covers in the business. Fired up, it might not have ever sounded as good either.

Two examples were shown. Both featured the planned optional 19-inch split-spoke wheels and optional full LED headlights. Both also had Audi’s optional S-tronic transmission that, we’re told, is an improved evolution of Lamborghini’s single-clutch e-Gear setup and not yet a dual-clutch Borg Warner supplied DSG setup as has been seen in models such as the A3 and TT.

A light blue example, with contrasting aluminum side segment, tan leather and piano black interior trim looked quite close in appearance to the original Le Mans quattro Concept that Audi showed in at the Frankfurt IAA three years ago and onwhich the production R8 is based.

The second example was silver with contrasting carbon fiber side segment, black leather and carbon fiber trim. While carbon fiber trim is very functional, it can also look tacky if not done correctly. No worries there, as this particular car was definitely the more handsome and aggressive of the two.

Six-time Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx was on hand to help present the car, and demonstrated just how many bags can be fit in both the front and rear of the car.

In addition to Ickx and Kristensen, numerous other Audi V.I.P.s littered the crowd on hand in Paris this evening. Dr. Martin Winterkorn and the rest of the Audi board were most proudly attending, as was Audi Sport boss Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich, Audi design boss Walter de’ Silva and Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Piech and his family.

Audi’s full press release has been printed on these pages, and further photography and information around the car will be reported upon and shared following tomorrow’s first media day of the Paris Auto Show. For now, over 200 photos of the R8's reveal ceremony can be found at the gallery link below.

If you have any specific questions about the car that you would like us to try to ask Audi’s on-hand experts, please post them in the Discussion Fourum linked below. We will do our best to make sure most questions are raised while at the show over the next two days.

I wish Audi kept the bottom part of headlight straight like in the concept instead of the curve - which is very BMWish.
