I hope this car won't use the same front bumper as the one from the optional "aero kit" because that one looked absolutely horrible.
In the side profile, the car looked like 996 to me, so I did this comparison to see why, not sure yet though.
Other than the fact the 991 is the best looking, I don't see any differences. S Class and 911 GT3 are the best cars to come in 2013 from germany. Does anybody know anything about the engine?
Aren't they coming with the 3.8 'DFI'? Probably with 450 PS to 480 PS (RS-version). No 'Mezger' engine anymore... Edit: Perhaps the 7-speed manual gearbox?
I share the same opinion. PDK will only be available for the 991 Turbo. But now I wonder if the 7-speed manual is coming to the GT3s and GT2s.
Since the 991 generation came with electro-mechanical power steering, start/stop system, thermal management, electrical system recuperation and other funny stuff for efficiency and fuel consumption, I guess the 7 MT in all 911s is a considerable thing. And does it affect the gearing ratio? The 7th isn't an overdrive gear? I don't know... I'm neutral in this matter. But no PDKs, I'm positive!
This is why I was thinking they might go for PDK....you know, efficiency and all... And the weight of a PDK equipped car isn't that much more to begin with, looking at the 991: only 20 kg. That's do-able.
As long as both MT and PDK are offered it does not matter. With PDK the GT3 will be faster than ever and with the traditional MT it will just be even better than ever.
Hmmm, good point. I think Porsche will be considering two school of thoughts: 1) Purity, and 2) Efficiency Tradition of "purity" would dictate a manual transmission, and the 7-speed would help lower fuel consumption. However, it wouldn't be as efficient around the track as a PDK, if the owner chooses to track the car. Also, I imagine PDK would further reduce fuel consumption vs. a 7-sp MT. I think, it'll come standard with the MT, with an option to have PDK. I think based on the demand, they'll determine how to approach subsequent GT3's.

I like it stays simple with 6 Speed MT. This car is meant for extreme driving, not eco driving. I hope it doesn't get Stop&Start system.
