I'm not a big Corvette fan (at least since I was like 12 and under), but this should be EPIC. I love the secrecy GM is keeping on it. Makes it feel very important.

I've driven Z06 and I loved the car. The new Vette cannot be worse than a Zo6 and if its half as good its going to be great.

That would be incredible, love it. If it is accurate, I will buy one!

It's got a GTR flavour about it's styling don't you think.

Certainly doesn't look very American in that video rendering.

It carries a bit of the Camaro design language to these eyes. I also agree with Deckhook that it looks more Japanese influenced than European.

It's jalopnik. I stopped visiting that site years ago... now I remember what bugged me, besides the awful design. The "helpful commentary" :)

I really hope that exhaust is fake...
  13. Levi68 Well-Known Member

Why fake? It has already been like this on the ZR1.

    No, it's different:

They're more separate and look 10 times better than that crap above.

    Same here!

BTW...That first rendering looks like a mix of the current Corvette and the Nissan GTR.

Yeah, I'm not liking those pipes. At least in that configuration it looks too busy. I'm sure it'll be a great car - each and every new 'Vette is proving the American's ability to make a sportster. This time though, I want a split-window. Let's have some retro.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Rendered, C7 Interior Spotted
    http://wot.motortrend.com/2014-chevrolet-corvette-rendered-c7-interior-spotted-263305.html

Anticipation for the next-generation 2014 Chevrolet Corvette has been running high. After all, the new 2014 model will be lighter, faster, and more efficient on top of having a better build quality than the current sports car. We recently spotted testers at GM’s proving grounds, but now a gang of prototypes have been caught on a mountain getaway, and our spy photographers got a look inside. Along with our comprehensive gallery of new 2014 Corvette spy photos, we’re also featuring next-generation Corvette renderings that preview what the new car may look like underneath all that camo.

The Corvette’s interior has been its weakest spot, but the new C7 could change all that. A new dash, seats, door trims, and a major upgrade in the quality of the materials are reportedly in the books for the new Vette, and a covered-up dash in the photos suggests GM is hiding some upgrades there. While the dash wears camouflage, we got a clear view of new fixed-back bucket seats that look similar to Recaros.

Outside, the already familiar center-mounted quad tailpipe tips remain along with the four circular taillights. Up front, though, camouflage could be hiding full LED headlights or a more dramatic take on the new C6′s HID headlights. Expect a resculpted and more aggressive front fascia and grille, and improved aerodynamics to help fuel economy. A aluminum spaceframe could also help achieve that, along with a small-block V-8 engine downsized to 5.5-liters. Two new transmissions, a seven-speed manual and eight-speed automatic, may also make it in the new C7.

It seems this Corvette will not have so many blatant parts from "lesser" GM offerings....that's a good thing. Hopefully the interior will be up to snuff.

If GM would put a Cadillac level interior in this car I would consider one at some point. Corvette has always been a looker and fast, but built like junk.

BRASELTON, Georgia — The redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Corvette — the seventh generation of the sports car — will debut on January 13 on the eve of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, General Motors confirmed on Thursday.

The 2014 Corvette will be significantly overhauled.

"There are only two carryover parts from the C6 used in the C7 — the cabin air filter and the rear latch for the removable roof panel," said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer, in a statement on Thursday.

He said: "The result is a truly all-new Corvette."

Production will begin for the so-called C7 in the third quarter of 2013. Pricing will not be announced until mid-2013. The pricing range is expected to start at around $55,000 for the base model to around $120,000 for the Corvette ZR1.

GM did not issue any teaser shots of the car, but revealed the Corvette's new Crossed Flags emblem, said to "symbolize the new car."

"The all-new seventh-generation Corvette deserved an all-new emblem," said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of global design, in a statement. "The new Crossed Flags design reflects the character of the next Corvette. The flags are much more modern, more technical and more detailed than before — underscoring the comprehensive redesign of the entire car."

The new logo, which will be featured on the 2014 Corvette, was unveiled at Road Atlanta.

GM said that in the coming weeks, more information and video content about the C7 Corvette will be "unlocked" on one13thirteen.com.

The 2014 Corvette is expected to get a restyled exterior, an upgraded cabin and a more efficient engine, according to media speculation.

GM says production of the 2013 Corvette ends in February, resulting in about a six-month gap between the C6 and C7. The automaker won't begin producing the 2014 model in volume until July.

The debut of the C7 at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show marks the 60th anniversary of the Corvette's debut in January 1953 at the GM Motorama in New York City.

"That car originally featured an emblem with a checkered flag crossed with an American flag," noted GM. "Because use of the American flag was prohibited as part of a commercial property, the logo was changed to the fleur-de-lis/bowtie design when the Corvette went into production in June 1953."

GM has sold more than 1.5 million Corvettes since the car's debut in 1953.

Edmunds says: The introduction of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette should be an emotional highlight of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show for the car's fiercely loyal following.
