This car looks sooooo so so good. Specially with that combo.

There is an article on Autospies about a dealer adding a 20K "Market Adjustment" to the 6 GC. Ridiculous.

Your issues with the price of this car are getting a bit insane, my man. Time to let it rest. It's ok you can't afford this car, not everyone can.
Stop complaining! Cars are silly cheap where you live.

Even wealthy people can't afford to buy this car. They're wealthy for a reason. They're shrewd, and they'll take one look at the depreciation and walk away!

Whether I can afford it is irrelevant to my thinking it's overpriced. I don't think an S550 is overpriced, and it costs the same (imagine that! A 6-Series now costs as much as M-B's flagship). Does that mean I should go out and buy an S550?

Ha, you guys are right that not being able to afford one is no reason to not discuss the price :) And btw, I think K-A actually can go buy one if he really wanted one ;)

Still, my point stands. K-A, you've made it perfectly clear by now that you think the car is overpriced. Time to let that rest now?

Would you not agree that it's overpriced? I could purchase a CLS63 (which comes standard with a premium sound system and sports pkg) for less than a comparably equipped 650i GC.
I will be curious to see how well BMW does with the GC because the 6-series coupe hasn't been selling well.

How much would the option cost that makes the CLS look as good as the 6GC? You may like the looks of the CLS, but not everybody does.
Do you have a direct link to that convertible with the red interior? I seem to recall we have discussed this car before, and its location in a relatively minor non-metropolitan market where premium marques tend not to do well anyway.
As for the Tomkinson BMW one, that is located in Fort Wayne, IN, correct? If so, that's also a relatively non-metropolitan area. Fort Wayne's population is only 255k people. Why don't you search for discounts in SF Bay Area or Los Angeles?
What are you comparing the 6er's sales against? 6er sales for July in the US were the best in 2 years. Through the first 7 months of this year, they have already eclipsed last year's entire sales by 13%.
As for the rest of that discussion from .:
"Here's the dealers e-mail. Sounds like deal is on in- stock cars. My case is reversed- I want Vermillion red with Ivory and this car has black Nappa*. And it has approx. 100 miles on the odo, which does bother me - sure they were tough test drive miles."
"Smaller dealerships seem to be discounting 6ers more than the bigger ones. I've heard stories illustrating this around here, and I witnessed the same thing. I contacted a Houston dealership I had visited in the past for a quote (they were out of town, but I figured I owed them a chance as they had been helpful when I was looking at different cars), and I told them that I was shopping around. Their initial quote was over $2500 more than my dealership here in Mobile, so it wasn't even worth trying to negotiate down from there. Sales in cities like Houston seem to be pretty good, but here the cars on the lot are not moving very fast, and I've only seen one other 6er around this relatively small town."

It is not unusual at all for in-stock leftover models to be discounted when people know the improved new models ("engine increase, soft close doors, stop/start") are on the way. Especially in non-metropolitan areas (Tallahassee has only 182k people.)
*Even "shrewd" people will walk past a good deal for something more expensive, if that more expensive item suits their tastes better. At this part of the market, people buy more on emotion than they do on purely objective, rational terms. Hell, even in the hothatch class, people buy on emotion. If they didn't, only one hatch would ever succeed as all of the "shrewd" people would never buy any of the poorer alternatives, which would whither away due to bad sales.

Did you take any pictures of this? If it is as bad as you say it is ("old American Pickup Truck"), it should have shown up in reviews and pictures.

From the BMW sales report (worldwide) for July 2012:
"The BMW 6 Series reaffirmed its position as segment leader with 12,435 vehicles sold year-to-date (prev. yr. 4,098/ +203.4%). Sales were boosted by the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé which was delivered to 1,462 customers since its launch in June."

The reason for the jump in 6-series sales is because of the big incentives on them. they've been giving them away...

^ They're giving huge incentives on all models, but you just had to point out the 6er.

Either way, stop using your local dealership as an example of how a car is doing. It's stupid.

I like your tone, and very sensical post. I can try, but won't make any promises. :D

I did not, unfortunately. I will try and find a picture on the web that shows it. You can see a nice large chunk of the cold, hard metal peeking out from in between the B-Pillar and door panel. Very unrefined, in an otherwise superb interior and fit and finish.

There was even bigger incentives on the older one in it's last year...

I really don't get your argument... on one side you argue it is overpriced and on other you argue they are giving them away. Either way, the free market is doing it's thing. How the heck does it matter what the sticker says? What matters is what the consumer pays in the end and the market will almost always determine that.
