Even though this has gone a TAD off topic, it's still a great read.

To be truly honest. Cars like the CL don't really need the B-pillar. No one is trying to make them sporty, and the added weight is just fine since it's a highway blaster.

But the C-class on the other hand. I think it does need the B-pillar due to the fact that many young kids will end up having it and will more than likely try to race it. The 1er is already a badass drive, and to even TRY to match it's driving aesthetic MB has to make sure the chassis is tight.

My only issue with the C-coupe is the identity crisis between it and the E-coupe. Cuz the E-coupe isn't really an E with 2 doors, and the this is just mucking it up.

VERY informative! Thanks. I can't believe no UUHS was around when the W211, current SL, W220 era was being built, shows how far passive safety has come in such a short amount of time.

.... Which the new C Coupe will benefit from! (Keeping it on Topic). :D

If that's going to compete the e92...
funny :) It looks like a normal C sedan, only 2 doors.
A bit too fugly and cheap looking IMHO.

Rumormill: 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Coupe to get 5.5-liter turbo

by Chris Shunk (RSS feed) on Dec 17th 2010 at 1:30PM

The Mercedes-Benz C Class already has a hugely capable and entertaining performance model in the 451-horsepower C63. But a refreshed C Class is expected to bow at next month's Detroit Auto Show, and an exotic Black Series Coupe is expected to follow later in the year.

Inside Line reports that a conversation with Mercedes spokespeople has revealed that the 6.2-liter in the C63 will not be tweaked for Black Series duty, opting instead for the company's twin-turbo 5.5-liter mill. That powertrain, as you may recall, already puts out 571 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque in the S63 AMG. That's 71 more ponies than the the CLK AMG Black Series and more twist than almost anything this side of a diesel-powered heavy-duty pickup truck. That should help justify the expected $100k-plus price tag of the rarest of AMG variants, while simultaneously making every BMW M3 owner a bit leery of a race with the Black Series coupe. Let's just hope it maintains the otherworldly bark of the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter, which is one of the C63's primary draws.

^Poor M3 GTS and RS5....They won't know what hit them!
  11. NarutoRamen Well-Known Member

I'll give you the RS5. But c'mon, doom and gloom for the GTS? Let's not be that quick to judge. LOL

    Oh that will be EVIL..
    hah..cant wait:)

A bit early to make such a statement. But I wait until the day of judgement.
The last automaker that made a similar statement. Got their asses handed to them on a plate.

Lesson? Figures are not the greatest commodity in a Sports Car.
Especially one that embodies all level greatness such as the BMW M3.

    "M3 Killer"

    "iPhone Killer"

I've heard those hyperbole terms one to many times and the only thing that ends up being killed it time.

Honestly, anytime those have been uttered, the product has been crap. It's always those who don't talk sh!t have the cojones (balls) to back it up.

    Why not the clk instead?
  17. NarutoRamen Well-Known Member

    CLK doesn't exist anymore. ;)
  18. donkeykong Well-Known Member

your right what i meant to say was e class coupe.

    [/CODE]
Who was the last automaker to make such a claim?
  20. NarutoRamen Well-Known Member

Many of us wanted that, but didn't happen. Probably due to the identity crisis.
