Are you sure about "twin scroll" solution being used in B44 engine? :t-hands:

"Twin scroll" is a solution used in PSA / Mini 1.6L turbo engine.

Any idea when will this engine become available?

    Exactly my point. (y)

Some of BMW's greatest cars have been 4-cylinders. The first M3 started out with a 4-cylinder, the 2002 Turbo, the 320td diesel racing car with whom BMW won some racing championship.

Just shows that some of these "fans" are nothing more but ignorant little bastards who know jack about cars. ;)

That "4-cylinder" M3 had more hp than Cadillac's V8 at the time. I just thought that was so amazing way back when.

Whether its a 3 litre six cylinder or a 2 litre 4 cylinder, a BMW is still a BMW. Not everyone can have huge engines in the real world.

This will probably be another powerful and efficient engine, with as much praise as some of the other BMW engines recently.

This was due to the emission regulations imposed on US and foreign automakers in the US I believe. This affected European manufacturers too. A European spec Mercedes 380SEC was good for 224-horsepower at its peak: in the US, the same car made a miserable 130-horsepower.

Either way it was an embarrassment for Cadillac. Their V8 at the time only had like 140hp compared to the BMW M3's 4-cylinder's 192hp.

Was this the 500cid (8.2-l) V8 of the '76 Eldorado or the generic 4.1-l V8 of the 1980s?

The wheezy, asthmatic, 4100 from the 80's.

In the Allante it had 140hp I believe while the 560SL of the day had 227hp or so.

At least the '80s had good music. :D

    Ok, enough off-topic chat. :t-cheers:

Well I've chat-ed with someone who dyno-ed that M3 and it turned out to have more than just 192 hp (kind of like with the 335i). :D
But various conditions and/or marketing can influence figures.

Just like the 1.9 TDI at VW...

My 101hp diesel is said to have 117hp in reality, I've read somewhere this generation TDIs always had 10/20hp more than said by VW...

    I think so too,welcome to GCF:t-cheers::D

Only One exhaust for a twin turbo engine ??
  16. martinbo Global Moderator / Editor

It's unlikely to be a twin-turbo engine. Twin scroll on a four cylinder petrol engine is much more viable.

    BMW Advanced Turbo.
