This is the most indulgent Mercedes I have ever come across... Don't even mention the SLR. This is off the hook!

I agree with what Luw said earlier, this is overkill, a CL500/600 with a designo interior will do just fine. But the CL65 is certainly out of this world.

OMG!!! this is really the ultimate coupe

Damn!!!! this car is amazing. The paint, the CF rear work, the CF interior just all looks so stunning. I would take this over the SLR in a heartbeat.

The latest word from AMGs` boss is there are new types of transmissions under developement for the next generation AMG models.



I wonder what that really means, it could mean this is a special-edition count of the 1 out of 40 CL65 that will be produced. I Imagine that MB will not produce every new CL65 this way.. Anyway I see a lot of Bently Arnage influence in the interior of this special-edition. The cross pattern in the leather and the carbon-fibre in the dash. The layout is beautiful but a bit overkill for a top of the line Merc.

I think customers want 7G-Tronic. With the AMG tuning it's enough sporty for them. There has to be enough comfort in a Benz, that's why no sequential gearbox like the SMG or dual-clutch transmission.

Yeah I thought so too, 40 limited editions.

A dual clutch is almost seemless, which means that you will have an even harder time detecting shifts compared to the best of automatics. They will be the future of the automotive transmission. It's only a matter of time before Mercedes announces a partner that will be supplying them the new tranny's. Or perhaps they are just taking the time to make their own to their standards...

Wow! this is definitely better looking then any current BMW! Just the interior doesnt look to traditional with all that CF, prolly woulda looked better with a black interior. anywayz, def the most gorgeous of MB coupes along with the CLS at the moment! simply awesome designs! BMW need to learn something about class and styling from MB

What I really don't like on this car, is the shape of the tailpipes.

The 7G-tronic Speedshift would actually improve on the already stellar accelerative performance of this car.

The "40" will be CL65's with the alubeam paint and other distinquishing markings. 20 are destined for the US market and the remaining 20 for everywhere else.

I think im gonna go nuts , this car is supremely stunning , ive never seen anything like it , and that carbon fiber is killin um !!!

I agree totally! Between this CL65 and the CLK63 Black Series the SLR has been rendered irrelevant. They'd better drop that SLR roadster at Frankfurt or L.A. otherwise it is going to truly be curtains for the few sales the SLRs gets now, at least in the U.S. Hell a SLR facelift is in order if you ask me.

Another Merc1 Allstar has arrived! I'll take one of these and a CLK63 Black Series and still have enough money left over for a nice C300 4Matic for everyday for the price of on (now irrelevant) SLR 722 Edition. Who the hell would spend 480K on a SLR after seeing the CLK Black and this CL65?
