So how much do you have to pay for the privilege of being a laughing stock? Well in the US, it’s around $29,000 (£16,400). You could buy a clown suit for less and achieve much the same effect.

Lol, JM is so stupid sometimes but then again he is also funny...

I feel you are wrong

I own a Sebring and it is a great car. I have made a few improvements and increased it fuel mileage. As well as handling. But before i did anything i have had no trouble with the car.

What are you comparing your car to?

E.g have you ever driven a convertible in that class to compare it to?

Disclaimer: Fine, it's hard for me to find a car I like from the American manufacturers, so, this'll seem like an easy target, but...

The Chrysler Sebring convertible is just as bad as Mr. Clarkson says it is. Maybe, worse.

For the past 3 years, I've been flying out to Coachella, in Indio, CA, to check out the music festival. The first year, my pals & I flew in & out of L.A. (which is a couple of hours away from Indio).

The past 2 years, we decided to fly in & out of Vegas, instead (which is a 5 hour drive from Indio).

For the drive from L.A., our rental (we figured we're in California, we should have a convertible) was a V6 Mustang convertible. I thought that was an awful car. Turns out, there are worse rides...

For the last 2 years, our rental company in Vegas saw fit to give us Sebring convertibles. They. Are. Rubbish!

I really can't sufficently tell you how bad these cars are. It amazes me that after 100 years of building cars, they could make something this bad.

Where do we start?

The trunk. It's great. It's huge. Unless, you want to have the roof down. With the roof down, you lose about two thirds of the trunk.

It's heavy.

It's underpowered.

It shudders when it even sees a bump, let alone having to deal with one.

It flexes.

It could never fully settle on a gear when we were driving through the Sierras. More often than not, it was screaming in third.

The interior looked like a collaboration with RubberMaid...the materials were awful.

The seats were incredibly uncomfortable. After a few hours of driving, you needed a professional masseuse.

The weird bit is this: I've driven the previous generation Sebring convertible. While still not my favourite car, it was leagues better than the car that replaced it.
