The Stig finally got his hands on the Veyron and took for a spin around the TG track.



What a disappointment!

Saw it a few hours ago. The laptime for the Veyron was pretty expected, the car is heavy and the AWD distribution is 50/50 meaning that it under steers like crazy. Also the choice of colour is terrible, the car looked like a bar of bathroom soap.

Saw it too and it was a disappointment. Zonda F roadster was faster...

I watched the episode on high quality and I noticed the bugatti had a little accident. If you go to the youtube link and watch the video on high quality, at the beginning of the lap, just when the car launches, you can see the bump on the bottom left side skirt. Wonder if the stig did that

hahha a freakin drop top Zonda F .. is more or less the fastest ( normal ) car ever tested on top gear..

Apollo and Koenigsegg are nearly useless in everyday life..
And the CCX had a special top gear wing..without it..it was dead slow at 1:20 something..

You have to watch when james drives the ZOnda..that clip might be the best TG clip ever..
What a way to say goodbye to the ZOnda from topgears side..
They obviously have HUGE respect and love for it..

What time for the Veyron?

4th fastest, not bad considering the weight of the thing and that really doesn't excel on a track with a lot of turns. Still a winner in my book.

No, its not. Let to car visit weight watchers and shave another 300 kg from the already heavy weight and the time would be much better.

For a car that is the exact antithesis of a circuit racer - this is a monumentally impressive time!

Again, unrealistic expectations vs. a sound understanding of reality.

Oh and lest we all forget, this is still the true "fastest car in series production" in the world and it's straightline performance is epic. This is a continent-crossing machine - its primary objective is to be fastest and most exclusive road car in the world.

It's not pretty, it's not perfect and it's hardly relevant in this day and age but - for as long as there are car fans on this planet - the Veyron represents the pinnacle of engineering triumph against all odds.

Funny thing is probably my grandma could jump into it and do a 1:20+ looking at how effortless that was.

Considering speed limits everywhere, and other conditions (crosswinds tarmac) it won't be faster then some 3 pot econobox on most places/occasions.

Ah those good all unrestricted 400 km/h+ autobahns with petrol stations every 10 minute.

Awsome car BTW, but the Zonda being faster is no surprise.

That's one of the main costraints with the Top Gear track. It's simply too short to do a super car justice. It works well to test the versatility of cars will under 400hp but for the big boys it's simply too short.
