| All-New 2011 Porsche Boxster Artist Rendering ![]() With the first generation Porsche Boxster being introduced in1996 and second generation under the 987 platform designation in 2004, the third generation Boxster is due for an launch in 2010 as a 2011 model. This time line coincides with the recent announcement by Valmet Automotive Oy and Porsche AG to extend Boxster production in Finland until 2011. Since the changes between the first and second generations were a modest warm-over, although Porsche claims only 20% of components were shared, the third generation is expected to be all-new with a more dramatic design while maintaining its core Boxster identity. Judging by the rendered interpretation above by Lars Saeltzer, the third generation Boxster will resemble Porsche's discontinued Carrera GT V10 supercar. We certainly hope so! | Re: All-New 2011 Porsche Boxster Artist Rendering The CGT would make the perfect "Style Doner" for the next Boxster, and future Porsches. Especially since the car has already ended its brief production run and carries a strong badge of credibility with car enthusiasts. MB did something quite similar with the SLR and the SLK - problem was that the connection was too strong, too soon - and something that stretched our suspention of disbelief, since it would be hard for us to buy that the two vehicles shared technical underpinnings. But the CGT is a less radically styled car, and Porsches are inherintely hardcore vehicles - so I think it's a styling match made in heaven. I can't wait to see this car and I hope this prediction is correct.

| Re: All-New 2011 Porsche Boxster Artist Rendering I really hope it comes out very similar to this rendering. This got me thinking that 2 to 3 years from now there's going to be a new 911 as well. If the Boxster might look like this, then redesigning the 911 is going to a very challenging task. I'm very curious to know how both are going to end up looking like. |

| Re: All-New 2011 Porsche Boxster Artist Rendering ![]() The Porsche Boxster is an amazing car to drive, but I never liked the design. I’ve always found the roadster's front/rear proportions to be the automotive equivalent of Dr. Doolittle's Pushmi-pullyu. In fact, if the original Boxster didn’t have a windscreen, you couldn’t tell which end was the front. (The 550 Spyder never had such a problem.) Porsche has gradually sculpted the Boxster's sheetmetal towards a more forward-going form; I'm assuming they're going to continue the evolution. I think a side line that descends towards the front will solve this problem entirely, giving the car a more aggressive stance and moving it towards its rightful place as a "mini-Carrera GT." The old Boxsters blend classic design elements with modern touches in a strange way. The elements that “scream Porsche," like the round headlights, were changed, while other, less relevant for the brand were kept. My design tweaks a little bit the ingredients used in the same neo-retro recipe. Here's hoping the right design (and some more power?) will reignite sales of Porsche's purest product. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/news-blog/ttac-photochop-new-porsche-boxster/
