OK guys we are building up a car garage for this forum, of 5 cars!

One from each of the German brands, and a car from any brand!

So for the BMW car, have you guys got any ideas?

I vote for the BMW M5, because it is a practical sedan, while being a very good performance car!

what about M6?
i voted M5 too, it is the epitome of the ultimate driving machine, luxurious, practicak, and one hell of a sleepy killer

I voted for the M5, partly because I've driven it and also because I think its the best car BMW offers at this point. Its a 4k pound sedan that you can take on a track and humiliate 996 turbos and DB9s! Its a mixture of automotive perfection from the adjusting side bolsters to the aluminum chassis and nealy 50-50 weight distribution. Its amazingly fast and is capable of 200mph. The engine is also the highest reving V10 in any street legal production car I know of and has won best engine of the year for two consecutive years since its debuted. The car has won awards up the yin yang and is, dare I say, the best four door in the world.....

Oh yea, M6, forgot about that!

Yea but if you are going to go for a sportscar (coupe), might as well go for the 911. As much as I love the looks of the M6, the 911 is the king. The M5 on the other hand, as far as I'm concerned right now, is on top of that category.

I would choose a 997TT over a M6 but not a regular 997.

I bet if we already knew what the E92 looked like you'd all be voting "M3".

Looks as if the M5 has edged ahead of the M6, but very close!

I voted for the M5, when the E39 M5 came out in 1999, it was the car which got me interested in BMW, and have been a BMW fan ever since! It was my dream car, and then the new E60 M5 came out, and was much better, and kept it's place as my dream car! Also it is amazingly good, considering it's a sedan!

The reason I didn't go for the M6 was because although it is a very good car, there are better cars out there, eg the 911!

I'll take the M3 please...it's just as capable as the rest of it's brother but it looks a million times better...not to mention the new one is going to come out and set fire to the roads

Exactly how I felt. If someone wants a coupe they would obviously go for a 911S/TT over an M6.

for me it's M5. the best of the Sheer Driving Pleasure series...

I share the same sentiment as you BMW_Dude. For me it was the E39 M5 facelift which caught my eye, my mind and my imagination.
It was the staring eyes of the E39 facelift's angel eyes lit at night which scared me half-to-death, and I can honestly say, I was never the same again. From that moment onward, it was BMW this..BMW that ...BMW everything.
The E39 M5 started it for me, and now the E60 M5 continues it. Along the way, I've developed a liking towards all BMW's, but none more so than the M5. Its name, its reputation, its history, its command for respect ... and that's just the qualitative aspects. We've all seen the numbers, the stats, its raw performance potential and amazing hustling ability considering its weight.

M6 is nice. Ofcourse a better performer than the M5, but what the M6 lacks is that aggressive look, that aggressive feel and ofcourse the name. The number 6 maybe be bigger than the number 5, but put an 'M' infront of them, and things change!

The M3/M3 CSL. Well, the M3 is M. Ofcourse a better all round package than the M5, but I just love the large size of the M5 compared to the M3. The current M3's engine may well be the best in-line 6 in hitsory, but IMO, M has matched the feat with their V10.

7 Series? WOW! What a car, what a statement.
BMW sure didn't tread lightly into ankle-deep waters when it came to their designs, then went head first off the top platform. The 760iL, such an awesome car, inside and out. The best of BMW luxury, but still possessing true BMW driving character. I really like this car, but for me, the M5 has more than enough luxury, and a hell of a lot more performance potential - all waiting to be unleashed at a moments notice.

X5 4.8iS... oooooh MAN!!! I totally love this car! So aggressive to look at, yet still looks so refined. Muscular is the word that comes to mind! Still dreaming of the opportunity where I get to ride or even drive this car, but dreams are dreams. If I had to choose a BMW right now, and money was a consideration, the X5 4.8iS would probably get the gong! It's tha BOMB (so to speak ).

In the end, my vote went to the M5 | Redefining the Ultimate Sports Sedan (again, again..and again!)

As I read in one magazine, "The M5 deserves every superlative beginning with the letter 'M' ".

the E39 5 series IMO is much better looking than the E60 5 series ... and its my favorite 5 series EVER..

I'm a fan of all german cars (okay maybe a little less MB than the others).

Anyway, I voted for the M3 CSL because this car more than any of the other options embodies "the ultimate driving machine."

I voted for M6.

M5 is too much track-oriented for a 4-dour vehicle.
