Question Which model?

Can anyone help!!!

I'm currently looking to buy myself a new BMW. I have got my options down to two. The Alpina D3 or the 320d M sport (both E90's).

I don't really know much about Alpinas, as I'm just a budding enthusiast.

How significant is the running cost of the Alpina as opposed to the 320d?

Can anyone recommend either of the two models.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Which model?

The D3 is quite a lot more powerful, if I was you though, I'd wait until the 3er gets it's new engines and ED features before I buy, they will lower running costs, I believe these new features come out in September.

The Alpina would be more expensive to run due to fuel economy, not sure about insurance though. Other things to consider are the Alpina would be a much more comfortable car than the M sport due to not have run flat tires, and softer suspension settings, while the M sport would be more fun to drive on the limit.

Here are the economy and performance figures for both cars, and road tests as well:

Choose an edition Price 0-60 mph Top Speed Max power Max torque C02g / km Insurance Group Retained Value % Auto (+ £)
320d M Sport £27,575 TBA TBA 161 251 153 14 51 £1,490

Road test of 320d

2.0d £26,995 7.4 148 197 302 156 TBA TBA TBA

First drive

I hope this helps!

Re: Which model?

If you don't want to get an automatic transmission (it isn't avaible for the D3), I would go for the Alpina!
But I would definitely do a testdrive with both cars, before buying one of these two!

Alpina D5, its a more special car.

You can register here and ask questions. Alpina owners are here and can help you with questions:
