When shopping around for my first car, the old GMT800 Tahoe was tops on my list. It was big, capcious, American, and most importantly, a "my size" kinda vehicle. Driving it was a pain; steering was slow and completely dead, the chassis pitched and wallowed around city and suburban streets, you hoped to god that the calipers would clench the brake discs on the way down.

So driving the new GMT900 chassis Tahoe, I had high hopes that GM engineers had gone in and made the necessary changes and refinements to make the new GMT900 trucks what they should have been in the first place; class leaders. I am happy to say that the new Tahoe exceeded my expectations and hopes for being a bigger and better Tahoe. The steering is tons better, the brakes brake, the chassis stays the course. The interior is deviod of cheap plastics and both looks and feels to last for a very long time. The engine is responsive and extremely effiecent with it's active fuel management techonology, cruising on the freeway you can peer down into the trip computer and see "V4" light which lets you know the engine is running on 4 cylinders for greater fuel efficency. By no means is this car a dynamic tour de force, but for it's size, and even more importantly for what it is, it's quite good. The ride is smooth but you feel very much informed as to what the suspension is doing as you're moving along. Gas prices are high right now, but with contiuned improvements in more efficent techonolgy to help decrease fuel consumption by GM, this truck and it's many siblings shall contiune to prosper as not only leaders, but icons in the industry.
