Re: American Muscle Battle - your choice?

i voted for the 'vette. Even tho i don't like the whole muscle car idea, the Z06 is the least worst looking of all, so my vote goes to this

Re: American Muscle Battle - your choice?

1. Ford GT. The only true supercar here. Best design of the bunch.
2. Dodge Charger. A modern take on the classic muscle car (albeit with two doors too many). They really should bring this thing to Europe.
3. Dodge Viper. Not as outrageous now as the first one was when it came out and not as cohesive a design, impressive nonetheless.
4. Ford Shelby Cobra. The tuners make a whole lot better job of this than what we see here, and to top it off Ford really didn't give the new Mustang the styling details it would have needed. (I still like it somewhat, though)
5. Chevrolet Corvette. Undoubtedly the best Corvette ever, but the looks do absolutely nothing for me.

Based on look alone I would go with the Ford. Let's just call it GT. Ford kind of kills it. It's a great looking auto though.

Re: American Muscle Battle - your choice?

It's a toss-up between three.

The Mustang is probably the least technically advanced, but hey, that probably doesn't count for so much when you're talking American muscle cars. It's a classic shape with classic proportions and instantly says 'muscle'. Somehow, it's probably my overall choice - if I wanted a muscle car, it's not so much purely for the performance (in straight lines or around bends), but it's as much for the look as anything else. If I want pure performance I'll get German or Japanese, though the Ford GT and Z06 are apparently really quite competitive. Plus, the Mustang's price should be reasonable, I assume.

The Ford GT comes next. I don't mind it being a Ford at all. The looks are decent, and I hear performance is good as well. IMO it's the car you'd get if it was important that you don't appear cheap to everyone else around, interior wise as well as rarity wise.

The Z06 is the bargain performance choice. It also has a classic Corvette look, and great performance. Its looks are more of any other sports car, though, low and sleek. Doesn't quite say 'muscle' to me.

Lastly, the Viper and the Charger. They don't appeal so much to me. The Viper somehow manages to look round and bulbous courtesy of the hardtop roof. It would need a bodykit or to be the convertible to fix that. Performance should be decent, not as bad as some make it out to be, but it's probably the infamy that would be a negative factor for me. Conversely, the Charger's slab-sided and too-long looks (partly from having 4 doors, IMO) also make it unappealing. I don't know much about the performance aspect of this car, but the looks already make it out of the running.

Re: American Muscle Battle - your choice?

The Ford GT is the best of those cars easily. More power than the Corvette and an aluminum chassis and MR layout. The Corvette is my pick for second though.

Yes I agree, I really like the look of the GT too - it has one of the best rear ends of any sports car in my opinion.

Re: American Muscle Battle - your choice?

Hmm, for me it's tight between the 'Vette and Viper. But this is what i'd take any day over those two:

This car for sure doesn't have the performace like 'Vette, but i can't resist that look...

Big block and small block V8 owners of all types may want to take a second look the next time a “V6” Mustang pulls up to the light as Carroll Shelby International Inc’s (CSBI.PK) wholly owned subsidiary Shelby Automobiles, Inc. announces the new Shelby CS 6 Mustang concept vehicle. Shelby Automobiles, known for speed and performance through the leadership of legendary racecar driver and Cobra creator Carroll Shelby, will offer a modified V6-engined 2006 Ford Mustang, dubbed the CS 6. Packed with a NOVI-1200 Supercharger from Paxton Automotive Corp., the CS 6 is destined to be the next great sports car from Shelby Automobiles pumping out an incredible 350+ horsepower. The Shelby CS 6 was introduced at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas in November.

The CS 6 features a Shelby-exclusive Paxton NOVI-1200 Centrifugal Supercharger, unsurpassed in high performance, reliability and quiet operation. The bolt-on NOVI-1200 is based on Paxton’s race-proven gear case, helical-cut gears constructed from billet-steel, aerospace-quality high-speed bearings and an air/water charge cooler. The CS 6 will be one of the most powerful supercharger kits for the V6 Mustang available on the market and its 350+ HP is a significant increase over the 210 HP of the stock Mustang and the GT version.

“Shelby Automotive is excited to offer the CS 6 with a focus on balance, performance and affordability,” said Amy Boylan, President of Shelby Automobiles. “With the Paxton Supercharger, the suspension modifications and the subtle cosmetic enhancements, the CS 6 will remind enthusiasts of the old GT350—fast and strong but light on its feet. There is going to be a lot of excitement from speed aficionados when the CS 6 hits the market.”

2005 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Paxton-supercharged Shelby Mustang legacy dating back to the famed GT350 and GT500 programs in the late 1960’s. In 1965, Carroll Shelby fitted a prototype Paxton Supercharger to the GT350 starting the Shelby/Paxton relationship. Eleven total Paxton supercharger kits were installed by the Shelby factory and a number of additional kits were sold to customers for retro installation. The CS 6 stands poised to continue the great Shelby/Paxton tradition of producing consummate performance-modified autos.

The Shelby CS 6 is racing-styled in the custom of great Shelby cars from the past but updated to create a unique and modern design. Among the interior and exterior modifications to the CS 6:

*

Custom hood
*

Custom brakes
*

Custom 20" American Racing wheels
*

Shelby Automobiles badging

Re: American Muscle Battle - your choice?

The Ford Gt is by far the sexiest American car ever made or concieved. Don't get me wrong, I love the charger SRT 8 along with the Corvette Z06 but nothing quite compares with this Detroit monster. I salivate everytime I look at it.

Re: American Muscle Battle - your choice?

The Vette baby! That thing is beautiful and is fast!!!!!!!

I like it the best because I think it is going to handle the best.

Top gear tried the vette and they somewhat liked its attributes
