So now it's pretty clear that, if Mave is a good source; Naturally Aspirated it is.

And, interestingly, it's got less torque than the S4. Nowwww... where've we seen that before?

I know this subject has been discussed to death ever since, but I had this info from a reliable source back last April (see post #273) but no one seemed to take any notice!

And I promise Mockenrue, I had every reason to, and did, believe you at the time.

We're just getting more and more confirmation that's all.

So I take it what ever engine is destined for the RS5 will eventually go into the R8 Facelift in due course?? 450hp sounds about right

I think it's safe to assume that, yes - another reason why it's NA. Some people are saying September (Paris) for the V8 R8.

Your info doesn't agree with Mave, torque 460Nm vs 430Nm and the power figure has been available since May 2008 from a source that has proved to be extremely reliable. Audi’s 2008 – 2010 Product Plan Leaked? - Carscoop

Interestingly (coincidentally?) Merc , BMW and Audi are all going to have a naturally aspirated performance V8 with ~450hp; C63, M3 GTS and RS5. Also, going by torque and capacity figures I would say that 430Nm is more likely than 460Nm for the RS5 given it's 4.2l capacity (M3 GTS 4.4l 440Nm, C63 6.2l 600Nm)

Indeed, however what I was getting at was that in light of what we now know, the information I received at the time regarding a high-revving NA V8 was the most accurate. Back then, most were touting V10 and FI V8s as being the most likely choices.

Anyway, I'm now being told 440Nm so it could be academic anyway!

Found info from a swedish board. He seen the new RS5 when he visited Audi Munchen to study the new A8.
According to him: 4.2 liters engine with 450hp, 0-100km/h about 4.6 seconds. Wide fenders like RS6 and a rear spoiler like the one on R8 and TT-RS.
He saw one in white and two pictures of a red RS5.

Quote:

4,2 litern 450hk.

If they will not show it in Geneva, I definitely give up.
There are still good cars on the market.
How the owner of expensive sports car feels himself ,when he buys a car but next year see new model and shape of the same model.

It will be at Geneva, but in the meantime I think we can expect some pictures over the next couple of weeks.

Ofcourse it will be at Geneva. Why do you think the A1 had an online debut so close to Geneva?

RS5 has been late IMO principally becasue of time needed to develop new 3.0T (in Cabrio but not in Coupe) and develop new RS5 engine that also don't forget will probably go in the R8 facelift. Timing is important. In addition you never know the RS5 might get the new plastic composite material to make it lighter. Audi showcased this and stated that it was still in development but this might have been just to generate some publicity. Unlikely I guess and will probably be used when engine is downsize for next generation but you never know.
