| Re: Audi A5 Official Thread II New engines for Audi A5 Coupe ![]() Audi’s stunning new A5 coupe still isn’t available in most markets yet but the company has already seen fit to expand the model range to include two new six-cylinder engines. The new engines come in at the low-end with a 2.7L TDI and 3.2 FSI model that are mated to continuously variable multitronic transmissions. The 2.7 TDI churns out only 140kW (190hp) of power but makes up for it with 400Nm of torque and a fuel rating of just 6.7L/100km. Despite this, it manages to get a reasonable 0-100km time of 7.6s and a top speed of 232km/h. The V6 petrol engine is the same as that used throughout the Audi lineup and delivers 195kW (265hp) and 330Nm of torque. Acceleration times are up to 6.6s but fuel economy also suffers with a rating of 8.7L

| Re: Audi A5 Official Thread II Audi Launches New S5 in Australia http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publish/Audi_News/article_3485.shtml ![]() Audi’s sporty S5 Coupe has arrived in Australia, spearheading the all new A5 model range. This entirely new model is Audi’s interpretation of a classic touring coupe, marrying dynamism with refined elegance to produce an undeniably stylish vehicle. The new S5 is the company’s top-of-the-range model, arriving ahead of its A5 siblings Downunder and signalling Audi’s strong focus on performance. The sporty S5 4.2-litre V8 quattro Coupe with 260kW and 440Nm arrives first in manual guise, with a swift six speed manual transmission, priced at $131,900. A tiptronic version, priced at $134,900, will follow in May 2008. Audi Australia’s Managing Director, Mr Joerg Hofmann, says the new A5/S5 range heralds a clear step forward for the brand in terms of desirability. “This new Coupe is a stunning vehicle and we believe it is the best in its class. With competitive pricing, advanced engine technology and elegant design, the A5 and S5 models will surely turn the heads of the luxury car-buying public,” Mr Hofmann said. “Audi is a brand on the move in Australia and this new model will help propel us towards yet another period of record sales growth.” With a length of 4.63 metres, the new Coupe is capacious, with four comfortable seats and an ample load volume of 455 litres. Its generous proportions are another nod to its purpose as a genuine long-distance tourer. The complete A5 range will feature powerful and economical FSI, TFSI and TDI engines, mated to a completely new high-precision running gear, which, along with innovative, luxury-class equipment features, make this coupe peerless in its segment. For design chief, Walter de’Silva, the Audi A5/S5 is a very important car, successfully combining sportiness, power, sophistication and elegance – the core elements of the Audi brand’s genetic code. “The A5 is of course a very powerful and superlatively sporty car,” said Walter de’Silva. “It is the most beautiful car I have ever designed.” “Nevertheless, it doesn't come across as the least bit aggressive or arrogant.” ![]() There is a classic elegance and a harmony of proportions, lines and surfaces that set the Audi brand’s new two-door model apart. “It is especially the way the shoulder line extends, with the back roof pillar flowing into it and the long transition to the short rear, which gives the A5 and its S5 sibling the identity of a typical gran turismo, a sophisticated touring sports car,” de’Silva added. At the very top of the range, the first vehicle to arrive - the purist Audi S5 with manual transmission - is a superb athlete with an unique character amongst high-performance coupés, thanks to its combination of V8 FSI technology, quattro permanent four-wheel drive, dynamically-tuned S sports suspension and mighty high-performance brakes. Subtle but clear design elements inside and out serve to visually reinforce the sporty character. With these qualities the S5 follows in the footsteps of the legendary Audi quattro. As the pioneer of permanent four-wheel drive for the road, the Audi quattro was nothing short of a revolution in handling at its launch in 1980. High levels of standard specification, vehicle security and safety are assured with this new model. Alongside the 18-inch wheels and the electrically adjustable S5 sports seats, the standard equipment specification for the S5 features items such as the swivelling Audi adaptive light, in conjunction with xenon plus headlights and daytime running lights in the form of an LED light strip, Bluetooth telephone preparation, DVD-based Navigation System and three-zone automatic air conditioning. All luxury-class options from the A5 program are also available, including the Bang & Olufsen sound system. Launch Schedule for Australia Engine & TransmissionPricingIntroduction Dates S5 4.2 FSI quattro manual $131,900 October 2007 A5 3.2 FSI multitronic $91,900 November 2007 A5 3.2 FSI quattro tiptronic $95,900 April 2008 S5 4.2 FSI quattro tiptronic $134,900 May 2008 A5 1.8T FSI multitronic Approx. $70,000 May 2008 A5 3.0 TDI quattro tiptronic Approx. $100,000 August 2008

| Re: Audi A5 Official Thread II Audi releases new TFSI 1.8T for A5 ![]() The VAG 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four was a staple of Audi and VW's product lineup for close to a decade, but with the addition of the two-liter turbo'd engine a couple years back, it quickly lost its place as the defacto work horse for both brands. However, Audi determined that with a few tweaks, primarily the addition of a direct-injection system, they could revive the erstwhile mill in a move to appeal to consumption-conscious consumers. They've fitted the TFSI 1.8T to the new A5, making it the cheapest way to get into Audi's newest hotness. Before, a base A5, sporting the 3.2-liter FSI V6 would set you back just over £33,000. When the A5 1.8 TFSI (mit manual) goes on sale, European buyers will be able to get behind the wheel of the Teutonic coupe for over £6,000 less -- and they aren't going to skimp on features either. Buyers abroad will be able to get Milano leather, tri-zone climate control, parking sensors, and an electromechanical parking brake, all standard. PRESS RELEASE ALL-NEW TURBO FSI ENGINE FOR AUDI A5 Replacement for highly successful 1.8-litre Turbo engine brings yet more FSI efficiency to A5 coupé * New four-cylinder FSI engine for A5 combines turbo charging with direct petrol injection for excellent all-round performance * A5 1.8 TFSI available to order now with six-speed manual transmission for £26,190 OTR or £27,140 with Sport specification – first UK deliveries in late November * 170PS @ 4,800-6,200rpm, 250Nm @1,500-4,800rpm, 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds, 140mph, 39.8mpg, CO2 169g/km The first four-cylinder engine to power the all-new Audi A5 coupé joins the UK range this week, and fittingly it too is also a completely new design. The advanced, directly injected successor to the familiar 1.8-litre Turbo petrol unit that has powered A3, A4, A6 and TT models in the past creates the A5 1.8 TFSI, which is available to order now for an OTR price of £26,190. First UK deliveries are expected in late November. Performance-enhancing turbo charging and fuel-rationing FSI direct petrol injection combine in the new unit to deliver 170PS at 4,800rpm and a healthy 250Nm torque peak that remains available from 1,500rpm through to 4,800rpm. As a result, the front-wheel-driven A5 1.8 TFSI with six-speed manual transmission passes the 62mph yardstick 8.4 seconds after take off, and can continue to a top speed of 140mph, all the while demonstrating a healthy dislike for petrol, with up to 39.8mpg possible according to the combined cycle test. The extensive equipment list from which the first phase of V6-powered A5 models benefits is carried over largely unchanged to the four-cylinder version. It includes luxuries such as Milano leather-upholstery, advanced three-zone climate control and rear acoustic parking sensors, as well as sophisticated features like a space-liberating electromechanical parking brake which are more commonly to be found only in larger luxury cars. Key optional features for this new lead-in model include Xenon head lamps with LED daytime running lights (£775), a Sport upgrade bringing larger 18-inch wheels, sports seats and further lowered sports suspension (£950), a 505-watt, 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system (£525), the Audi Parking System Advanced with rear-mounted camera (£650) and Adaptive Light swivelling headlights (£325). | Re: Audi A5 Official Thread II Hi there, Someone knows when S-Tronic will be released in Audi A5 3.0 TDI? I've heard that Audi is working in something new, like a 3.0 TDI bi-turbo to deal with 3 liter bi-turbo of BMW (335d, 535d...), is this true? Bye |
