I agree if heavy to you means slow, that's a touch slower than the S8.

Heavy? In what way can you explain. Cause for me, a 354 hp car making 5.1 seconds to 100 km/h very good.

Re: New Audi S5

sounds like the S5 will be a 335i competitor-perhaps a slightly better performer though..

333 hp, 3500 pounds, does it in under 4.8 seconds, some say 4.7 this is about .4 seconds slower than a M3. An plus a 335i barely beats an M3. e46 m3 that is, and the 335i has 300hp. u tell me

Re: New Audi S5

Let's not forget that manufacturer's claims are often very conservative. Therefore, until independent tests come out, let's not jump to any conclusions.

Both the E46 M3 and W203 C55 AMG had a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 5.2 seconds, according to BMW and Mercedes Benz, respectively. We all know that some magazines have recorded a much faster time for these cars. Same with the manual 335i, which BMW claims has a 5.7 second time for the 0-100km/h run, and we all know that is also not very accurate given the published tests so far.

W/ DSG, this thing will pistol whip the competition, lets' hope that becomes the slushbox of choice by Audi product planners.

The M3 had 5.2 in the papers, plus the S5 is not a M3 competitor. The RS5 will take care of that.

S5 is a 335i competitor IMO and we seen various tests of 35i making 0-100 km/h in low 5 seconds. Personally I find 0-100km/h figures not intresting, I rarely drive below 100km/h.

First of all do we even know an RS5 will come out-secondly if it does it seems like it wouldnt get anything better than RS4 engine-considering the S5 got the S4 engine-

Me too. I care more about 0-250 km/h times.

Also i have to say that RS5 won't have the same engine with RS4. The number i have heard is between 450-480 hp which is easily achievable by the use of the 5.2 lt V10 engine.

Re: New Audi S5

Seeing that this is a thread about the appreciation of the thing of beauty that the new S5 is, Im going to re-iterate with some visual stimuli.

Please, let's not have this thread deteriorate into 335i vs. S5 comparison. Most of us know and adore the 335i for what it is, as well as the magnificent engine that's destined for greatness. The 335i is a fabulous car.

But then again... so is this:

This is a great angle for the car. It's utterly magnificent and growing on me every day. And with a 260 kW, 420 Nm V8, it should be plenty quick enough for all but the most unreasonable of pundits.

I honestly will be surprised if we see the 5.2 litre V10 in the RS5 just for a mere 30-60 hp increase, and perhaps a 70 ft-lbs increase in torque.
The increase in weight will be approximately 260 lbs all going to the front end of the car.
The potential weight to power ratio improvement with the V10 engine is less than 1%, and the weight/torque improvement of about 14%.
With regards to the dynamics of the car, I am not sure how this will improve the handling of the RS5, and are they willing to take this risk?
Weighing the pros and cons of the options, I will guess that Audi will stick with the same engine of the RS4.

I have to agree; it is a beautiful car. Let us keep the 335i vs S5 debate out of this and just appreciate the beauty of the S5
