They might modify those back lights. I'm not seeing much though. The 5er is already a great looking car, why change it?

Its not facelifted photos. Its a testing of the upcoming turbo version.

That is not the face lift. That's just BMW testing their new 3.5 turbo engine.

Is that an actual five or a disguised 3er with a 5 body. ????

dont belive everything you read there . We saw similar photos in autobild but ut turned out to be the turbo version. Even Scott verified this. So forget about what pascal is write

It's a 5er and BMw has decided to use the model to test the new engine.

Yeah and people shouldn't believe all the stuff said on some webpages. There are magazines out there who a really stupid they see a chop and say "Scoop this is the new Audi TT". Some magazines usually don't know much more than what we know.

The 5er's shown here are mainly test beds for BMW's upcoming powerplants such as the NG six cylinder turbo that will make it's debut first in the 335i Coupe (E92) this Winter.
It is a fantastic sounding engine , loud and overall very smooth the way it pulls the car is very impressive and the acceleration shows , no sign of any slugglishness. It is seen as a stop gap until the M3 arrives which gets better, lighter and faster . The M3 will be more individual than the 335i you can be sure of that.

The larger intake is for better cooling , The inline six cylinder turbo will also find it's way into the 1er ,3er sedan,Touring and Cabrio , Z4 Coupe and the 5er and eventually other models.

The 5er will get a facelift in the future but will be similar to how BMW facelifted the E39 - Just a slight Tweak because of the M5.

I hope BMW find the 335 engine to be more powerfull than the M3 engine. This will probably put them more on the fence on whether to produce turbo charged engines in their M cars.

Cool, but would the weight alone be low enough to justify the development costs compared to just putting their 4.4L in?

that was the next thing i was going to ask as well Bum-Man. I dont know why they would put in a turbo charged 6 when the 4.8 ltre V8 might be more fuel efficient and cost efficient.

Well, from what I've read it appears that BMW is set to turbocharge most, if not all of it's new engines from here on out...which is odd, but i'm not complaining

I have no idea but Im sure BMw will tell us in the pressrelease. 330hp isnt final yet but the rumours say 330 hp.

It is way too early for a facelift to be testing now...

When they do facelift it, the headlights, the grille has got to be modified majorly...

Yeah, we all know that he doesn't like the 5er, so i don't care. If there's anything on a 5er that DOESN'T need any mods at all that's the front! The rear needs leds and that's it.

Really? I really do think the rear of the 5 is pretty cool, it's sporty while pretty elegant... I guess the front needs a bigger grille, a bigger set headlights with probably some titanium/silver coloured inside of the headlight (like the E46 330i) to sharpen it up... The 5 looks surely amazing close up as with other BMWs, but once further away, some of the detail disappears and it just doesn't look all that good anymore...

well yeah, that sums it up... other parts of the car looks pretty good.. my other complain would be the interior, especially the rear air vents!

Yeah, the rear is cool, but every modern 4 door sedan today has the leds in the back! Hell, even the fl E46 has them.

But i completely disagree about the front. Bigger hadlights? C'mon, don't tell me that they must be bigger, iyo. I though you don't like the shape of it, but size? A-a, no! They're just perfect!

Let's face it Ownage, everything towards BMW design anno 2005 is disliked by you. We really know that by now. We already knew that on GCF.
