Additionally MB even has said that they don't need and the point of the CLS was not to sell in huge numbers because the margins on the car are huge because it is based on the E class so they make more off one CLS sold than like 5 E's.

The key word being "expectations". MB had low expectations for the CLS and it exceeded it and it is considered a success. I think BMW has the same with 5GT, but somehow that is marketing spin?

Yeah it is marketing spin, but I've never said that Mercedes isn't guilty of marketing spin. They do it too as we're witness one now with the E-Class "Coupe".

My problem is that you know who will never, ever admit that forecasting low and selling more is a marketing trick done for issuing nice press releases. And then....he'll come back and say that it is an exotic product even if doesn't meet the low sales forecast. We'll get "it was never intended to sell in numbers" or some speel like that.

Frankly, I don't think having a realistic sales expectations is marketing spin. I am sure it is based on some marketing research and not something they just pull out of their ass to make a good press release - and that goes for both 5GT and CLS.

And if all this is something personal between you and 'you know who', carry on . Though I am sure you both have better use of your time.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a reasonable sale expectations either, but here we've got the excusing coming already...before the car goes on sale. What I'm saying is that we'll get a marketing spin when and if the 5GT doesn't meet the sales expectations....whether they're high or low. It won't, must not be, can't be called a failure no matter what by BMW CM.

As much as BMW CM is guilty of painting it as a success, you are of painting it as a failure even before it has gone on sale. And ignoring BMW CM for a sec, I don't think BMW itself has any problems accepting a failure - 8er comes to mind. You can't blame them for not making a dud since then.

The point of the X6 and 5er GT is harder to define..as they are new concepts..

But at 70 your joints & spine won't be flexible enough to crawl into SL BS ... At that age 5er GT, a Viagra, and some 50-year old Carmen Electra wannabe will rock your world. All things for dynamic, adventurous & active men in their golden age. And there can be a doggie as well. Style.
