Yes I am am an avid MB fan, so I think because BMW is the main rival or at least historically it has been, I tend to be more critical of BMW's. But both of those obsevrations I don't think are far stretched in terms of perceived quality. To add to the lighting strip observation, check this out. Look at the upper part of the lighting strip on the left right above the grab handle and you will see light creeping through the gap, which I don't think is supposed to be there. Something wasn't bolting very well together.



Overall I think the 3 series is a very un-BMW-like design. Boring, bland, uninspired, and the wheel wells in a profile shot do not look big enough. The front reminds me of an S40 volvo actually.

I was being lighthearted with those comments PHYBENZ, you are of course entitled to your opinions ...........also, I agree with your observations ......as I said much earlier in this thread, the interior does look "cheap" in places.

I'm sure when I see one IRL, I will be very impressed with it - from the pictures, there are some details that just look a bit flimsy - but hey, the CLS is full of flimsy details.

you know I was in Geneva and sat in the new CLK63 and I can honestly tell somethings looked cheap there so Mercedes arent building perfect interiors either. The best interior I sat in and studied could be found in Audi S8, not BMW or MB.

Yes and the pre FL version was worse.

I'm warming up to it but I still need to see more pictures before I can give it a thumb up. It took something like 5 months for me to fall in love with the E90.

Well gentlemen, this car is looking mighty and I mean mighty fine. Just looking at this gives me so much hope for the M3 and I'm so excited by the M3. I can't wait until this car comes to the BMW dealership, I'm definitely going to drive one not to mention I might be able to talk my cousin into buying one of these.

Interesting. I'm a bit surprised that BMW have put "seatbelt presenters" in the 3er - seems like more creature comfort than we'd expect from a 3er. I like it, but something in my subconscious doesn't.

I'm wondering what the point is. I understand why Benz would use these since their pillarless coupes relocate the seatbelts to a low and hard to reach spot. Is it that the 3er coupe is more cab forward than it looks, relocating the seat belts far back?

BTW - You know you're nit-picking when you find fault in seatbelt presenters. I mean, dude... they're lil' robot arms that extend for a few seconds. Should they have chrome accents or something?

ha ha ha....that is funniest thing I've heard all day. On a side note, I know what you're saying about it being just a little hand thingy but the problem is that do BMW really have to make it look so cheap? at least give it the same color as the interior so it doesn't stand out.

Chrome accents don't need to be used so it looks presentable. When you can see the plastic holes and ribbing on the bottom of it in the press release picture, that's cheap. The plastuc arm isn't even nicely finished plastic.

I doubt it will scare away customers so yes you are very picky, its not even visible for a long time. You need to get over it

Well I think it looks fine - and I like the idea of having a robot arm presenting me with my seatbelt - they are probably an option anyway.

Dude, honestly I really don't even care. I don't think anyone, and I mean anyone is not going to buy the car because of the seatbelt presenter. Seriously, we need to stop this it's really silly.

If anyone does have a problem with it then they can send it to West Coast Customs so they can "Pimp your seatbelt presenter"
