It doesn't look bad but it's probably one of these useless early shops.

Actually, no. When the E90 first came out there was an interview done with one of the project engineers who was quoted very specifically saying that the next iteration of the 3 series will be lighter, not heavier, than the E90.

Re: AutoBild: Next generation 3-series

Nice intergration of the massive kidney grille. Looks very aggresive. That said I doubt the next generation 3 Series will look like this. Possibly have a few on the detailed signs such as the kidney grille and other design themes from the CS but I don't expect an almost carbon copy.

It is all but confirmed now that the CS concept was a 7 Series concept anyway? So I expect the 3 Series to look quite diferent.

Re: AutoBild: Next generation 3-series

For the current 3er-Coupé then also a tii package is in the discussion. Because the customers in this class spend tendentious more moneys than on the 1er, more extensive changes are not to be excluded. On the desire list stand stronger M3-Bremsen, a special 19-Zoll-Sportfahrwerk, a double clutch transmission and a more sharply loaded three-litre turbo with approximately 355 HP.

Naturally it is too early to ahead-suspect the next 3er-Generation in the last detail. But is clear: It becomes more dynamic for still more joy in driving. The smallest common denominator for these mark-typical characteristics is called "ti" or "tii". After the first finger exercises BMW rehearses that now holistic beginning, which ti not only when accessory understands, but also as its own automobile.

Tii performance parts has without a bigger share potential customers compared with the 1er. Just look at the number of people who rice out their 3er.

Re: AutoBild: Next generation 3-series

The final design for the next generation 3er sedan & touring hasn't been chosen yet. Still to early in the development phase to do that. Not to mention 3er coupe & cabrio - their final designs are still years away.

Regarding "tii" ... Performance Parts program has been already available for selected 3er models. The E90 platform ones.

Ah yes. But there is almost a close resemblance to the front end of the 5er.

Re: AutoBild: Next generation 3-series

During the 1970s the 2002tii helped put BMW on the performance map, especially in America where the car quickly became a much sought after classic. The three letters ‘tii’ were synonymous with lightweight construction, improved dynamics and more performance, but over the years the importance of the model was forgotten.

BMW recently resurrected the badge when it unveiled the 1-series tii concept at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, which eventually turned into the new ‘BMW Performance' accessories range. Like the original cars of the 1970s, the new accessories line included a series of weight saving and chassis enhancing mods as well as several power upgrades.
Now, BMW is considering doing the same for its next-generation 3-series sedan due in 2011, reports Autobild. Like the 1-series performance range, developers are planning to introduce carbon-fiber parts, new aero kits, larger wheels and brakes, sports bucket seats and steering wheels and new LED instrument clusters.
More serious performance upgrades are also planned including a M3-spec limited slip differential, dual-clutch transmission and a more powerful 355hp version of the 3.0L twin-turbo. Unfortunately, the new model isn’t set to arrive until late 2011 but in the meantime you can find more details in our previous story.
