M3/M4 E93 M3 Coupe Cabriolet (Spy pics & info)

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

A TopSpeed reader sends us a few spy shots of the 2008 M3 Convertible and also of the 6-Series facelift.

The M3 Convertible will be powered by the same 420 hp, V8 engine used in the Coupe version unveiled earlier this year. For the US market it is expected to be priced around $55000.

The 6-Series facelift will probably be unveiled this year at Frankfurt Motor Show. It will be powered by a V8 engine with output between 258 and 367 hp for the M6.

BMW M3 Convertible and 6-Series facelift - spy shots - Top Speed

I hope BMW made the necessary improvements to the cab's shell for added rigidity that goes out the window w/ these types of cars. Other than that small reservation this is a car I'm really looking forward to. Imagine being able to hear the V8 burble w/ the top down... no need to bump the radio, even the ladies will love listening to the baritone of the exhaust system... flying panties anyone??? :t-cheers:

Re: E93 M3 cab. spy shots

So where are the shots of the 6er facelift????

M3 cabrio looks damn hawt!1

Edit;

Not much to see there, but the front lights do have tape....

BMW M3 Coupe Cabriolet Spy Photos

Barely disguised

A new version of one of the world's best-selling high-performance car is preparing for action - and we have the first pictures that prove it will also be coming as a high-performance four-seater cabrio. We can reveal the all-new BMW M3 CC, after our spies caught the car with thin disguising testing at the German Nürburgring today.

The next-generation M3 is the first V8-engined 3-Series, and offers 400-plus bhp - so expect it to race from 0-100 km/h in a fraction over five seconds, and go on to a limited top speed of 250 km/h. Power will be fed to the rear wheels via a six speed manual gearbox or the latest SMG sequential manual, possibly with seven ratios.
The new car should maintain the M3's reputation for outstanding handling. The V8 – derived from the M5’s V10 – will be more compact than the current in-line six cylinder model, while a longer wheelbase will help with weight distribution. Externally, the car takes many cues from the M5, with twin-exit exhausts, front wing vents and discreet 'M' badges, while the look of the all-new 3-Series means an aggressive nose and deeply sculpted flanks. Expect to see the M3 Cabrio in showrooms in autumn 2007.

Re: BMW M3 Coupe Cabriolet Spy Photos

Exposed: 2009 BMW M3 Convertible

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Recent spy video from the Nürburgring reassured the world that a 2009 BMW M3 convertible is on its way. And here it is.

Like the 2008 M3 coupe, the new convertible will benefit from an all-aluminum 4.0-liter V8 rated at 420 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

BMW claims that 85 percent of the M3 coupe's peak torque is available across a rev range of 6,500 rpm, and says it'll run from zero to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds.

Previous spy photos revealed the BMW's new retractable hardtop, which replaces the outgoing M3's soft top.

Following the launch of the M3 coupe, the M3 convertible, shown here in artist-altered photographs, is expected to go on sale in late 2008. A new M3 sedan will join the family as well.

What this means to you: The wait for top-speed, top-down BMW fun is almost over.

I'm sure that's very similar to how it will look, I'm still not warming to that red colour though!

After the official first drive of the new BMW M3 Coupe in Spain this week, many of the drivers came away with the consideration that the new E92 M3 has lost the raw and primal edge of the previous E46 model. We can only assume that a drive in the new convertible version, due for release in the second half of next year, will see performance slip even further because of its weight disadvantage. Fortunately for BMW, the M3 Coupe-Cabrio, as depicted in these renderings, looks amazing.
According to BMW’s own figures, the 335i Convertible weighs a substantial 285kg more than the 335i Coupe. Most of this weight is attributed to the complex folding metal roof and the extra strengthening required to increase rigidity. There were suggestions that engineers could utilize a lighter carbon-fiber set-up, but recent spy shots reveal that the folding metal roof will remain.
Like the M3 Coupe, the Convertible version will feature the same aggressive front bar, vented bonnet, wider fenders and quad tailpipe arrangement. Beneath the hood is the same 420hp 4.0L V8 and expect to see most models equipped with BMW’s upcoming dual-clutch gearbox.

Re: BMW M3 Coupe Cabriolet Spy Photos

Nürburgring stalkers caught the upcoming BMW convertible (e93) in what looks to be shakedown testing before making its debut at the Frankfurt show this September. It's sparring with what looks to be the upcoming Lexus LF-A, a matchup we'll likely see on the local interstates by next fall.

Re: BMW M3 Coupe Cabriolet Spy Photos

That colour made a huge difference! For some reason I think the looks of the E92 might benefit from not having the carbon fibre roof - have to see more pictures.

Re: BMW M3 Coupe Cabriolet Spy Photos

Naturally this is the M3 I want the most!

Re: BMW M3 Coupe Cabriolet Spy Photos

I can't blame you Merc, that's one hot looking car. It looks maybe even better than the coupe counterpart.....I like the C style and flat boot a lot.

M3 Cabriolet Spied

These are the latest images of the upcoming BMW E93 M3, the convertible sibling of the E92 M3 Coupe that premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. Expect no big changes in terms of performance or equipment as power will stem from the same high-revving 420 bhp V8. Thanks to Autogespot.com we can show you these pictures of a gray M3 Cabrio lapping around Nurburgring. These pictures come a week after BMW gave us a sneak peak of what appears to be the upcoming light-weight CSL derivative.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
