Weight

The motor for me was slightly underwhelming, but the weight is a pleasant surprise, as is confirmation of EDC and a cf roof.

If the weight is true, they really did a remarkable job...I mean the car, is quite a bit bigger and more advanced than the E46 platform!

The weight is quoted as 3483 lbs in Car & Driver:

2008 BMW M3 Coupe - Official Photos & Info - Car News - Car and Driver April 2007

Edit: based on the article, Active Steering is linked to the Power Button. . .

Re: Offical: Production E92 M3

I like it! It looks like a very positive evolution from the old one. I am sure it will be a great performer and the engineering behind it is phenomenal but…there is one thing that bothers me: price.

In the latest Road&Track issue they say that the base price will be around $65,000 in the U.S and I am guessing ~65,xxx euro for the EU. Way too much in both regions imo. Why did it go so high in price anyway? I don’t recall the base for e46 but I am sure that it wasn’t above $60k.

In the US for app. $10k more you can get the same amount of cylinders, more power, in a much lighter package More fun!

65k would be dissapointing... that would mean BMW is using the same pricing range as the RS4.... which I always believed to be overpriced. If true, it's too bad that they are going the same bonehead pricing road as Audi.

Well they are trying to move the M3 upscale, which makes more room for the 1 series. Therefore, the M3 will be more exclusive. Besides, BMW is aiming for cars way out of this price range (Porsche 911) so this will still be somewhat of a bargain. Of course it'll depend on the performance.

Re: Offical: Production E92 M3

$65k would be something like 650 000 Swedish Krona (including customs and VAT) But then again, cars seems to be priced rather low in the US. An Audi RS4 is 750 000 Swedish Krona.

$65K US MSRP- not going to happen. $53-$58K, very plausible.

Wow, so many pages in such a short time span, it really shows how anticipated this car really is

I'm not a big fan of that color, I would prefer the standard red, but the car itself looks like a beast. I didn't even notice that hood hump until people were pointing it out in the first pic. But besides the looks, the performance is what I'm really interested in. Can't wait for more details.

I'm having bad feelings about these pictures.. I mean, if they're official BMW pictures.. Aren't they a bit low quality? I dont mean in size.. I mean just look at them.. They're the worse "press photos" ive ever seen!

To be honest, I don't see many S or RS models where I live either. I see AMG and ///M all the time and a few times ferraris but almost never an S or RS. The only time I saw the RS4 was at the AUDI dealer. I see a few kids with B5 S4 but that's at my school.

To Make you understand this is a leak . It's the E90 all over again, To justify why I am particular angry about this leak is because most of the promotional material is not completed, which to me and all the effort and hard work is a now a complete waste of time.

RS4 is $68K so if the M3 is $60K, there's not much of a difference, since you get two more doors, and a more exclusive car.

The key will be how the RS5 is priced, since that will be its main competition from Audi.

I feel you. I really never imagined that pictures of the M3 would leak out. I thought BMW had a tight seal on that one.

$8k might not be much of a gap for you, but for most people that is big enough gap. For the price of the RS4 I can get an M3 and a used E36 or even a new motorcycle. The extra doors on the RS4 don't matter because no one who is in the market for a coupe will buy a sedan unless they are suckered into one. Exclusivity in the 68k price range doesn't matter, it's when you get into the over 100k price range it matters.

I do agree, we'll have to see how the RS5 is priced. Wherever the M3 ends up on the price scale, I expect the RS5 to be around there, but let's wait until the official unveiling of the RS5 before we discuss that...even the M3 hasn't been officially unveiled yet.
