A3 and A3 Sportback 2 doors and 4 doors.

All this car needs is bigger rims and a lower suspension setup. One thing I'd advise BMW to do, would be to make the silver headlight surround on this car black. That would look killer!

I guess this isn't the most complicated car model of the world. If you have a four door you just take away one door and voila you have a new model to brag about. Audi did the same thing with the A3.

why not? sounds like a great idea. IMO 2 doors feels more sportier than 4 doors so I think it would be a good idea for 130i .

Yes there are indeed two versions of the golf. I don't know about you guys but I love two door coupes but I hate two doors hatchbacks.

I don't mind it at all. At least it doesnt' have the plain looking arse of the Golf!

Except that with Audi the 3 door A3 came out before the 5 door Sportback...

As for this 3 door 1 series, I guess it's been a while coming but does this signal the death knell for the 2 series coupe? Tine? Will there even be a 2er, and if so maybe it'll only be available as a cabriolet?

Now that I think of it, a beefed up, flared fender 2 door M1 might just be the shizzle.

I think the 3 door looks sport, just as sporty as the 5 door, but the 3 door will have to be given some time, as for most of us this is very fresh in our minds.

Both Luw and just_me are counting the doors all wrong. In a hatchback the doors are 3 or 5. In a coupe we have 2 doors and in a sedan 4 doors. So the A3 and 1 series have either 3 or 5 doors.

I like it, now bring on the 2+1 door 130 SE.

No need to be too pedantic about counting hatchbacks as 3/5 doors and sedans or coupes as 2/4 doors (no comments about CLS in this thread please). I agree that 3/5 doors is probably more widespread for hatches, but we all know what you mean when you say a 2-door hatch.

Anyhow, I actually like the 5-door Golf better. The rear three-quarter view of the 3-door looks really lumpy, since the window line slopes up. I also think the A3 Sportback (ie. 5-door) looks better than the 3-door A3. The 3-door looks very plain from the rear.

However, I reckon they should have made the 1er a 3-door all along. Not only does it suit the concept of it more, it also looks great! Well, as good as a 1er can look anyhow Seriously now, a M Sport Package version of a 3-door 130i would be killer.

Or 135i will be introduced as a top version until M1 emerge, and than be killed.
Or 135i will be offfered in hatch version, M1 in coupe & cabrio (if board goes with 1er badge for Coupe & cabrio instead of 2er).



I'm sure BMW still do not know what to do and that Introduction of turbo engines will cause some diffuculties to position the variants with turbo right.

I am pretty sure that the 3.0T will not be introduced on the 1series...
I mean the '30' is the top for the 1series, '35' top for the 3series with '50' top for 5 and 6series and '60' top for 7series... There is obviously a top 'standard' engine for each model and so I dont' see the '35' making to the 1series... And afterall, a 1series does not need such a powerful engine...
